Sigri Coffee Estate was founded in the 1950s by Tom Cole, a crocodile hunter and coffee farmer. It was subsequently purchased by WR Carpenters. The farm is located at an altitude of 1,525 m in the flat and fertile Waghi Valley, near Mount Hagen. The soils are of volcanic origin. Regular rain and good sun provide the foundation for the coffee to grow and thrive. Shade trees comprise Albizzia sp. and Causuarina sp. The Waghi River forms one side of the estate boundary.
